How Swedish trust companies are regulated
Swedish trust companies are registered with and supervised by the County Administrative Board (Länsstyrelsen) under Swedish anti-money laundering legislation. Supervision covers AML obligations: customer due diligence, risk assessment, and reporting.
A trust company is AML-registered only. It is not a licensed financial institution and does not carry a passport to provide services in other EU countries. Activities that require a license, such as deposit-taking or payment services, need separate authorization.
